1997 Porsche 993 C2S

There can be no question that the most famous numerals in the Porsche lexicon are 911. Introduced in 1964 - It is still being produced making it one of the longest running production models today.
I personally believe the 993 Wide-body Carrera 'S' - is the best styling of all the 911's and from a collector's viewpoint - the last air cooled Porsche - on which the legend was built. A truly great sports car.

Nicknamed the “Black Magic Woman”

"Black Magic Woman"

Written by Peter Green.

Got a black magic woman
I got a black magic woman
Yes, I got a black magic woman
Got me so blind I can't see
But she's a black magic woman
And she's tryin' to make a devil out of me

Don't turn your back on me baby
Don't turn your back on me baby
Yes, don't turn your back on me baby
You're messin' around with your tricks
Don't turn your back on me baby
'Cause you might just break up my magic stick

break:

You got your spell on me baby
You got your spell on me baby
Yes, you got your spell on me baby
You're turning my heart into stone
I need you so bad, magic woman, I can't leave you alone

Yes, I need you so bad
Well, I need you darling
Yeah, I need you darling
Yes, I want you love me
I want you love me
Whoa, I want you love me, ah
Whoh, yeah
Oh, whoa, baby
Yes, I need your love
Oh, I need your love so bad
I want you love me

History:  The 993 - "A Legend From Inception"

In 1994, business was going a lot better when the new 911 (Internally known as the 993) went on sale. The new car was the most sweepingly changed 911 ever. Better aerodynamics including the new bumper and front wings, gave the 993 a fresh new look without losing the identity of the 911. Beneath the front bumper were “Air-Relief” vents, to help air escape from the wheel wells. Chassis revisions were just as extensive.

The 3.6L engine was modified to put out 270bhp and a new Porsche 6-speed transmission was used. ,the rear suspension had been redesigned, and a more powerful brake system had been added. The single exhaust pipe was replaced by exhausts both left and right, like the Turbo's have. The 993 was equipped with rear-wheel drive, now called Carrera instead of Carrera 2. Later the Carrera 4 became available with a further simplified four-wheel drive system. The new system now added only 50kg's of extra weight to the car compared to the Carrera. The Carrera 4 can be recognized by the indicators that are white on the front and red on the back (the Carrera's are orange).

The 993 also featured new interior. Luggage space was improved by 20%. There were new seats, a new steering wheel, and some other changes making the 911 interior more ergonomic. When the 993 was released it was only available as a coupe. The cabriolet followed the coupe a couple of months later. The Targa was dropped because sales had been deceasing ever since the cabriolet had been introduced in 1981. In 1995 a new-style Targa would however be introduced again. Not only did 1995 bring a new Targa, in 1996 the new RS, RS Clubsport, Carrera 4S and the new Turbo were introduced.

In 1997 when the new 911 (996) was announced Porsche came with the Carrera S. This car also had the Turbo's shell, but was equipped with two-wheel drive. This car was built to stimulate sales of the 'old' 911 before the new model went on sale. Because of the wider tires both the Carrera S and 4S have excellent roadhandling. The split grill is unique to the Carrera 4S.
